Cutting Out When Braking

hi

I have a galaxy 2litre 1996 and when i brake from high or sometimes lower speed the rev counter goes down to zero then returns to idle speed, you do not feel it in the driving but i think i have a fault somewhere if some one could help me to solve this problem it would be much appreciated. I had a engineer look at my electrics with his computer but only the air sensor on the exhaust came up faulty is this the problem ?
